INGRESS PROTECTION
Ingress Protection rating is determination of the degree of protection provided by electrical housing/enclosure.
DEGREE OF PROTECTION
1. FIRST DIGIT:
The first digit stand for protection against solid intrusions.
It ranges from 0 – 7.
0 indicates no protection while 7 indicates 100% protection against dust.
2. SECOND DIGIT:
The second digit stands for the level of protection against liquid.
It ranges from 0 – 9.
0 indicates no protection while 9 indicates full prolonged immersion under water.
IP20:-
In IP20, the light is protected against solid objects /intrusions up to 12mm
IP42:-
Protection of light from both solid objects upto > 1.0mm diameter as well as from dripping water at 15° from normal position.
IP65:-
Fully dust proof light including water protection by nozzle from any direction.
IP66:-
In IP66, in addition with dust protection, the light is capable to deal with water coming from powerful jets from any direction
IP67:-
Fully dustproof., ie; dust would not interfere with working of light. Also, light is protected against immersion in depth less than 1m.
IP68:-
Light is completely protected by solid particles and also, light is protected against complete and continuous submersion in water greater than 1m. It also depends on manufacturers specifications.
